About the programPublic health students and young professionals: do you need to know how to get the best experience to start your career? How about just finding out what a health administrator does for a living? Or what about finding the best ways of tackling your public health challenge? Do you need a preceptor for a special project? You can now contact "seasoned" veterans for advice. How do I contact a Public Health GURU?Click on the professions category that best suits your interests. Read the profiles on the public health "GURUs." When you find someone that might be able to assist you, look to see how he/she would like to be contacted. When you contact on of these GURUs, please give the following information:
- Name
- University/educational institution (if applicable)
- Degree program and expected year of graduation (if applicable)
- Place of employment (if applicable)
- Any relevant background information (including career goals, specific areas of interest, if applicable)
- What you would like to know
- Email address and phone number
How much does this program cost?
No money! However, we would like to know if the GURU program has helped you. So, please expect to fill out a short survey that will be sent to you by e-mail several weeks after your first contact with your GURU. We are just asking you to give us a little time to give us feedback if you access this program.
Want to become a public health GURU?Complete a form and email to Amy Lee (Academic Section chair) at afl@neoucom.edu. Click HERE to download a form (in MS Word format). Your profile will be posted on this GURU web site!
You will also be asked to complete a log (download from HERE) so that we can see how well the program is working (we are academicians, after all!). You can send this log in to Amy Lee after someone contacts you so that they can be asked for feedback within two weeks. In addition, you will be asked yearly each June to make sure your profile is up to date.
