DisparitiesAddressing Disparities in Ohio2001 American Public Health Association Challenge GrantThe Ohio Public Health Association applied for an American Public Health Association Challenge Grant for 2001, called "Addressing Disparities in Ohio." OPHA was awarded $2,500 to work toward the following goals. To stimulate public support for public health--by recruiting more members into OPHA and APHA so that they may be informed of public health issues. To improve public health practice, by educating many public health professionals on the issues of health disparities. To strengthen and support the Association--by promoting both OPHA and APHA as a say to keep updated on important public health issues. To raise awareness on racial and ethnic disparities--by helping the Ohio Department of Health to organize and provide a conference on health disparities.

Boyce, Executive Director, Ohio Commission on Minority Health, during the conference co-sponsored by the Ohio Department of Health on December 5, 2001, please click HERE. Through APHA grant funds, $1,000 was donated to the Ohio Commission on Minority Health. OPHA was given a corporate award on March 27, 2002.
